Saudi Arabia has launched the world's first licensed electric aircraft and autonomous air taxi this season, specifically designed to provide transportation services for pilgrims during Hajj in Makkah.
The Minister of Transport oversaw the launch ceremony of this autonomous air taxi on Wednesday. He emphasized that this technology is part of the transport and logistics system's initiatives aimed at adopting and leveraging modern technologies to serve the guests of Allah.
This new service will facilitate the transportation of Hajj pilgrims between sacred sites, ease emergency movements, transport medical equipment, and provide logistical services through the transportation of goods. The minister highlighted that this initiative is a step towards implementing the latest future transport technologies and adopting innovative, environmentally friendly transport models based on artificial intelligence applications.
The minister also predicted that this aircraft would be available to the public within two years, enhancing Saudi Arabia's role in advancing the aviation sector and offering innovative and eco-friendly solutions.
